Training in the south of England can often be serene, especially on a sunny weekend as I sail through pretty villages with cricket on the green and a lovely duck pond near the church.
But that’s the weekend.

In the week, training can often come down to getting to work and back, the daily commute.
It takes me 1 hour 20 minutes to get to work by car and the journey is 25 miles – all due to heavy, start-stop traffic.

On the bike it takes me 1 hour 20 minutes ! 🙂 So you would think that I should do it every day, right? Well that takes some guts because as you can see fro the photo, travelling however slowly down the middle of two car lanes is still dangerous no matter how vigilant I am, not to mention the close shaves from trucks who think they’ve passed but haven’t quite completely passed.
However, 50 miles training and a full days work in between is worthwhile but I do wish the weather would improve.
These days are early June and I’m still wearing two layers and long sleeves – whatever happened to global warming.

To get more miles in I’m taking a circuitous route home and increasing the return leg of my work journey to 40 miles which is a nice 2 hours. Average speed goes up with less traffic on the route and that’s great.

My target of £50,000 still seems a long way away but I’m hoping that many of my supporters will donate generously now that the date is coming soon and you all know that I can’t back out at this point.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far, this is a very real challenge for a very worthwhile cause and we all look forward to the difference we can make in the lives of those with leukaemia.

Thank you again for your support.
